Kayla Huszar, RSW, CC-PMH, Certified Expressive Arts Therapy (Level 2), and Certified Fair Play Facilitator, is a registered social worker specializing in maternal mental health, ADHD mom of two, camp wife, solo parent 50% of the time, and feminist. Previously working in non-profits with families in crisis, Kayla’s personal experience with undiagnosed anxiety - which turned out to be undiagnosed ADHD layered with people-pleasing, toxic guilt, and perfectionism - ignited her desire to support mothers and challenge the impossible standards placed on modern motherhood.

Between her two pregnancies, she pursued training in expressive art therapy, discovering that therapeutic art and mindfulness practices not only healed her anxiety but also prevented a relapse into symptoms bordering on OCD with her second pregnancy, cementing her belief that creativity is a missing pillar of maternal mental health. “There’s something in me that KNOWS if moms, and women who mother others well, are okay, the rest of humanity will be okay, too.”

She started her private practice in 2017 when her first son was two, providing therapy and support for mothers experiencing guilt, rage, burnout, and identity loss. While learning more about the field, Kayla completed training with Postpartum Support International and the Perinatal Mental Health Certification Program. Over the years she has broadened her area of specialty to include ADHD in mothers and equitable division of labor in families.
She has worked as a consultant providing corporate training to organizations such as BMO on mental load and invisible labor. Her work has been featured in Maclean’s magazine
(2025), on CBC’s The Current (2025), and on Life with Elyse (formerly Trailercast). She hosts the Chill Like a Mother podcast, bringing nuanced conversations about maternal rage, guilt, and the gap between gentle parenting ideals and real-life motherhood.

Kayla offers education and training to other professionals through her signature MOM SPACE CARE Method, a comprehensive framework for treating millennial maternal mental health. She is completing her ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP) certification practice hours.
