Description
- Clinical tools to increase client awareness of emotional construction
- Interventions for reconstructing emotional meaning and actions
- Spot and intervene in client’s rigid emotional scripts in real time
- Strategies to improve flexibility, expand behavioral choice and restore adaptive responses
Reactive patterns don’t change just because clients understand them.
You’ve seen this with your trauma clients. They understand their patterns and have processed painful memories with you …
Yet, when real-world triggers hit, the same shame, fear, or reactivity comes right back.
That’s because you need to work at the level where emotional responses are wired to repeat.
Structured Emotional Reorganization (SER) works at that level, integrating the principles of evidence-based models like EMDR, EFT and DBT.
… And opening pathways to regulated, intentional responses instead of emotional reflexes.
In this one-day training you’ll join Antonieta Contreras, LCSWR, CCPTII, BCN, author of Traumatization and Its Aftermath and developer of the Structural Emotional Reorganization integrative framework.
As she’ll teach you how to apply this neuroscience-based approach in your own clinical work, so you can help clients regain control instead of being hijacked by old reactions.
Join this 6 hour training for:
- A clear framework for identifying the most common rigid emotional scripts
- Practical tools to reorganize automatic reactions and restore emotional flexibility
- Clinical Interventions that support healthier relationship responses and choices when triggered
- Real-world case examples showing how SER can help shifts “stuck” patterns that don’t respond to traditional approaches
Refine your ability to help clients move beyond default reactions toward lasting regulation!

Objectives
- Explain how systems theory and predictive processing inform the organization of emotional experience, including the role of anticipation in shaping perception, meaning, and response.
- Describe the Emotional Architecture Model and how emotions emerge from interacting layers of affective activation, salience detection, valuation, meaning-making, and action readiness
- Differentiate emotional dysregulation from structurally organized emotional scripts, and explain how this distinction informs clinical decision-making.
- Identify common forms of rigid emotional scripting that develop through trauma, chronic adversity, or repeated emotional learning, and recognize their presentation in clinical practice.
- Apply an integrative, mechanism-informed framework (Structural Emotional Reorganization) to deconstruct entrenched emotional scripts by targeting their underlying components, including meaning, valuation, and action tendencies.
- Integrate mechanism-informed emotion processing strategies into psychotherapy to support the reorganization of emotional responses and increase flexibility, relational responsiveness, and adaptive behavioral choice.
